Avast Password Manager operates with a strict zero-knowledge, no-logs policy. We never have access to your passwords or encryption keys.

This Privacy Policy describes how Avast Password Manager handles your information when you use our Chrome extension. We are committed to maintaining the privacy and security of your personal information.

Our Privacy Commitment

Avast Password Manager operates with a strict zero-knowledge policy. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your passwords or encrypted vault data
  • Your master password or encryption keys
  • Your browsing history or websites you visit
  • Your IP address or location data
  • Any personal information or account details
  • TOTP secrets or two-factor authentication codes

How the Extension Works

When you use Avast Password Manager:

  • Your master password is used to derive an encryption key using PBKDF2
  • All vault data is encrypted with AES-256 before being stored
  • Data is stored locally in your browser's encrypted storage
  • No data is ever transmitted to external servers
  • Decryption only occurs locally when you unlock with your master password

Information We Collect

Minimal Technical Data

To maintain and improve our service, we may collect minimal anonymized information:

  • Browser type and version (for compatibility purposes)
  • Extension version number
  • Aggregate, anonymous usage statistics

This information is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify individual users or their vault contents.

How We Protect Your Privacy

  • Zero Knowledge: We never have access to your master password or decrypted vault data.

  • Local Encryption: All data is encrypted and decrypted locally on your device using your master password.
  • No Third-Party Tracking: We do not include any third-party analytics or tracking scripts in our extension.

Third-Party Services

Avast Password Manager does not share any data with third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade user information. The extension operates to protect your privacy, not compromise it.
